A tree of rounded habit. The leaves are a dark purple-green, the young foliage being especially purple in tone. This makes the perfect foil for the deep rose red flowers, opening from scarlet buds. The tree has a very warm yet rich tone in spring which will bring a very unique burst of colour to your garden. In autumn there are rich dark red fruits; these are quite small and 'cherry like' but they do last well into the winter.
